The artists in the show select and paint subject matter "plein air" (open air, natural conditions and on location) from various vantage points including the greater Estes Valley, National Park & Forest lands, St. Vrain and Big Thompson River canyons and south on Peak to Peak Scenic Highway.  Many of the participating artists are members of Oil Painters of America (O.P.A.), National Watercolor Society (N.W.S.) Pastel Society of America (P.S.A.) Pikes Peak Plein Air Painters (P.P.P.A.P.) and many other prestigious art organizations.

From the grandeur of high mountain valleys to the rivers below, each artist in the show captures a unique moment in time, and the beauty of Colorado on canvas, board and paper. Historic landmarks such as the Stanley Hotel, MacGregor and McGraw Ranches are just some of the subject matter artists choose, as well as the vast mountain vistas including noted Colorado peaks like Longs, Hallet, Yipsilon, the Mummy and the Indian Peaks Wilderness area. Others paint the high mountain lakes and falls in the national park, or the calming fields of mountain flora abundant with color at this time of year.  The artists can paint in any location that is within a 100 radius of Estes Park, which provides for a great diversity of subject matter.

As you may have already heard, this show is one of the most fun and rewarding painting shows in the country and offers its collectors some of the finest Plein Air work that can be found anywhere.
